Why Is SoundCheck Not Working After Using Remote Desktop?

This issue can either appear as "Remote Audio" being the only selectable device in the SoundCheck hardware table or by not Windows not recognizing any devices at all. The default option of Remote Desktop is to forward all audio from the remote PC to the master. This forces all audio through the “Remote Audio” path on the remote computer and all other Hardware options are unavailable in SoundCheck. The fix for this is to go to Remote Desktop Settings > Local Resources > Configure remote audio settings > Remote Audio Playback > and select "Play on Remote Computer". Changing this setting will allow the remote computer to choose its own audio output paths and SoundCheck’s hardware can be configured correctly.
